Committed to a Greener Future

Sustainability is one of our core values at Merrett Logging, keeping the planet and our community at the heart of our business. Trees are vital to our planet’s carbon dioxide cycle and provide habitats for a variety of wildlife – and that’s why sustainable forestry is so important. We harvest our softwood every 15 years, only taking what we need without depleting our sources. Sustainability is ensuring we leave a better world for future generations.

Local Roots, Nationwide Reach

Merrett Logging’s base camp is in Penola, South Australia. However, we have a broader service area with a depot in Mount Gambler and deliver as far as  Colac, and Geelong. We work within South Australia and Victoria’s  green triangle, which spreads between Portland, Hamilton, Penola and Millicent. If you’re in the area, don’t hesitate to call us for all your forestry harvesting and haulage needs.

Stay Up to Date

As the demand for timber increases, it’s always best to keep up with the latest technology and news in the forestry industry. At Merrett Logging, we keep all our clients up to date with the latest, including new machinery and developments. We also encourage any of our clients to get in touch to discuss future plans with us – our friendly staff are happy to answer any questions you may have.

👨‍🔧 Farewell

👨‍🔧 Farewell Tyson Murphy 🛠️

After 18 years with Merrett Logging, today we’re saying farewell to one of our own.

Tyson started with us in 2008 as a heavy vehicle apprentice — our very first apprentice — and has grown with the business every step of the way. Not only did he complete his trade, he backed it up with a second trade in Automotive Electrical, continually building his skillset and becoming one of the most knowledgeable technicians in our team.

Over the years Tyson has come to understand our fleet inside out. From John Deere equipment and Waratah harvesting attachments through to fitting our Guardian safety systems, his training, attention to detail and problem-solving ability have played a huge role in keeping our operation running safely and efficiently.

More than just a super smart technician, Tys has been part of countless milestones at Merrett Logging. A tragic horse owner and punter with plenty of stories (it’s like something you would see on blue heelers or something) and a genuinely cracking bloke to have in the shed and in our management team.

While he’s decided to move into a different career path, he leaves with our full respect and appreciation. We wish him nothing but success in his next chapter and thank him sincerely for everything he’s given to the business over the past 18 years.
